Glass Side Tables
How to Keep Tables from Getting Scratched Up
One of the main problems you might have to face with glass side tables, or any kind of glass topped table for that matter, is the problem of scratches on its surface. Keeping your glass side tables as pristine and as scratch-free as they did when you first got them requires a lot of care and some cleaning techniques that will help you get them clean but not scratched up.
One of the tricks that you may need to learn to do when you clean your glass side tables is to wipe them gently with a clean, lint free piece of soft cloth and to use a cleaning solution that won’t leave streaks or scratches on it. One such solution you can use can be made from home and is made with the use of warm water, vinegar and rubbing alcohol. The addition of rubbing alcohol to this mixture makes it evaporate faster, which lessens the possibility of streaks and scratch marks appearing on your glass side tables. The vinegar helps remove any hard to remove dirt on the surface of the glass and does not leave any residue as well.
Another trick that you should use when you want to protect the glass of your side tables from scratches is to not place any sharp edged decorations or pieces directly on the glass top. If you can, try to place something underneath your sharp edged decorations and other items before you put them on your glass side tables. For example, if you are planning on putting a lamp on your glass side table, try to put some rubber pads underneath the lamp’s base to avoid the scratching that may occur if these rubber pads were not there. You can also choose to put some kind of table runner or decorative lace or cloth doily underneath the lamp’s base to help keep the table from getting scratches from it.
